Irene Victoria (Borschneck) Murphy
1938 – 2026 (age 87)
Mom was born December 23, 1938 in Dodsland, Saskatchewan to George and Lena Borschneck.
She grew up in Broadacres, Saskatchewan with her 3 sisters: Bernice, Helen and Josy. She always talked lots about her home there and all of her cousins, friends and neighbours.
She started working in Kerrobert at a young age, boarding with Kellers and working and living with Dr. O'Halloran and family as a housekeeper, and always kept in contact with the family even after they moved to Montana.
She met a farmer, Wilfred Murphy, at a church retreat function. They were married August 6, 1963, and had a house moved on to the home quarter shortly after. This was a place she dearly loved and never ever wanted to leave.
They were blessed with 5 children: Ken, Karen, Shawn, Brennan, and Shannon, and life got very busy.
She never did learn to drive but contributed in many other ways. Always making sure everyone had enough to eat, keeping busy with a huge garden, cooking and baking, just to name a few.
Sadly, she lost Wilfred in 1996, whom she missed very much, and has been talking about going to see him again these past weeks.
Then in 1998, the grandchildren started to arrive: Madison, Carter, Kordell, Jordan, and Kaylan meant everything to her. Many visits and phone calls were made keeping up to date on everything going on in their lives. Attending 2 of their weddings and seeing the 4 great-grandchildren Cohen and Shaye, Everleigh and Blake born were definitely highlights.
Her faith in God helped her lots in life. She always made sure the family attended mass and was a long-time CWL member. When health issues stopped her from being able to attend mass, she always found comfort in watching it on television, rarely missing a day. When she became housebound, her rosary rarely left her hand.
She remained on the farm with help from her family until she went into the Kerrobert hospital and passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026.
Rest easy Mom. Your pain is gone now and you are finally reunited with Dad, your parents, sister, extended family members and many friends.
She is survived by her children Ken Murphy, Karen (Chris) Davis, Shawn Murphy, Brennan (Sheila) Murphy, Shannon Murphy; grandchildren Madison (Tyler) Macintosh, Carter (Tari) Murphy, Kordell Murphy (Carlyn), Jordan Davis, Kaylan Davis (Riley); great-grandchildren Cohen, Shaye, Everleigh, and Blake; sisters Helen Murphy, Josy Borschneck; sister-in-law Bev Murphy.
Predeceased by her husband Wilfred Murphy, parents George and Lena Borschneck, sister Bernice Murphy, and all of the other Murphy in-laws.
