Swift Current man charged after meth, weapons seized in search warrant

SWIFT CURRENT - A 35-year-old Swift Current man faces multiple drug and weapons charges after RCMP seized methamphetamine, cannabis and imitation firearms from a Prairie Sun Court residence.

Swift Current Municipal RCMP's General Investigation Section obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence on May 15, 2026.

Officers seized approximately 227 grams of methamphetamine, 662 grams of dried cannabis, a sum of cash, drug trafficking paraphernalia, a stun baton and several imitation firearms.

Two people were arrested at the residence.

Travis Lee Smith of Swift Current has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose under the Criminal Code.

Smith appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court and was remanded into custody until his next appearance on May 22, 2026.

The other individual arrested was released without charge.

Swift Current Rural RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP's Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Team, Critical Incident Response Team and Police Dog Services assisted in executing the search warrant.
