Luseland Police Service releases August activity report, warns of nationwide phone scam
The Luseland Police Service (LPS) has released its monthly report for August 2025, outlining a range of calls for service and reminding residents to stay alert to ongoing scams.
Throughout the month, officers responded to 10 suspicious person, vehicle, or activity complaints, along with two general driving complaints and a bylaw complaint involving dogs at large. Police also handled reports of an abandoned vehicle, which was subsequently removed, and provided a courtesy transport for one male.
LPS conducted wellness checks on two female youth at the request of community members and responded to a mental health-related call. Officers also performed a property check, transported a prisoner to Saskatoon for remand, and responded to two “keep the peace” requests.
Other calls included three alarm activations, a fraud complaint under $5,000 (since resolved), two reports of theft under $5,000, and one report each of mischief under $5,000, a family dispute, and a neighbour dispute. LPS also assisted neighbouring RCMP with a stolen vehicle investigation.
Police are continuing to investigate after a vehicle fled during a traffic stop.
In addition to its August calls, LPS is urging the public to be cautious of a nationwide telephone scam. Residents have reported receiving calls where the caller ID displays the Luseland Police Service’s phone number. Scammers may claim to be Saskatchewan police officers and ask for personal or financial information.
“Under no circumstance will our police service call you and ask for financial information,” LPS emphasized in its release.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call is encouraged to contact the Luseland Police Service at (306) 372-4844 to confirm its legitimacy. Due to increased call volume, officers may not always be immediately available, but callers can leave their name and number for a return call.
For emergencies, residents should dial 911.
