Impaired driving charge laid after traffic stop
Unity RCMP charged a 38-year-old Cut Knife man with impaired operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop during the week of Aug. 25 to 31. Members also investigated a complaint of assault, a report of a hit and run that damaged a vehicle and was reported for insurance purposes, and a complaint of an individual failing to comply with a release order condition, which remains under investigation. RCMP assisted Occupational Health and Safety with a reported hydrogen sulphide exposure at a worksite. Police attended a report of a child walking alone on a street in Unity and found the child was in the care of a guardian. Members returned a dog found running loose on the highway to its owner and took a report of a vehicle colliding with a deer, which caused no injuries and was reported for insurance purposes. Unity members also handled four traffic complaints, one false alarm and one false 911 call.
Wilkie RCMP responded to two complaints of suspicious individuals near a business and spoke with the subjects of the complaints, with no further police action required. A stolen bicycle was later returned to its owner and the complainant declined to proceed. Members spoke with an individual regarding a child custody order and continue to investigate a complaint of theft and a complaint of trespassing. Officers attended a residence at the request of the bylaw officer to keep the peace while bylaw tickets were served, and attended another residence at the request of Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods to keep the peace while the property was boarded up. A member safely disposed of a used syringe found at a Wilkie park. A complaint of uttering threats and one complaint of assault were unfounded. A second assault complaint, a complaint of disturbing the peace and a report of an attempted break and enter at a residential garage were closed due to insufficient evidence. Wilkie members also handled one traffic complaint, one noise complaint and one false 911 call.
Macklin RCMP are investigating a report of a dog running loose. Macklin members also handled three traffic complaints.
