Teacher Amelia Oostenbrink led her students down the walking trail as the kids skipped along the path, spontaneously singing “Are You Sleeping Brother John.”
At the beach, a representative from the Town of Kindersley shared how the local habitat is being changed and protected by humans. On the way to the regional park area, Mrs. Oostenbrink stopped periodically, instructing her students about birds, migration, bats and the trees growing in the area.
Melanie Vardy from the Wildlife Federation was on hand at the regional park, where she had the students volunteer to help make a visual representation of the food web. It was a beautiful, sunny day, and the students were able to see first-hand how wildlife and species are preserved along the walking trail, and how everything they see is connected.
