LEADER — A handmade symbol of kindness is appearing in business windows throughout the town of Leader, thanks to one man’s commitment to bringing people together.

Leader resident Scott Crockett has set out to paint a wooden heart flag for every business in his town. Each piece is made as a gift, carrying a message that is both simple and powerful: kindness can make a difference.

Businesses across Leader have embraced the project, proudly displaying the heart flags in their windows. Together, the flags have become a visible sign of community solidarity – a reminder that neighbours can stand together even when the wider world feels divided by hate and chaos.

For Scott, the project is not about recognition. His goal has always been to spread kindness rather than hate, one thoughtful gesture at a time. By giving each business a handcrafted flag, he has invited the entire town to share in that message.

As his daughter, I am proud of my father and grateful to the local businesses that have welcomed his gifts. Their willingness to display the flags has helped turn one person’s idea into a community-wide expression of compassion and unity.

The heart flags now shining from Leader’s storefronts do more than decorate the windows. They reflect a town choosing connection, generosity and hope – and show how one person’s act of kindness can inspire many others.

In a world where you can be anything, be kind.
