Unity-area RCMP lay assault, impaired driving charges
Unity RCMP and the Wilkie and Macklin detachments handled a range of complaints between May 19 and 25, including an assault charge in Unity and an impaired driving charge near Macklin.
Unity
Police received four Mental Health Act complaints. Members spoke with the subject in each case, and in one the person was taken by family for medical assessment.
Members conducted two wellbeing checks at the request of concerned citizens.
A 60-day roadside suspension was issued at a traffic stop.
A 21-year-old Unity woman was charged with assault after members received a complaint.
Complaints of fraud, disturbing the peace and theft were each closed due to insufficient evidence.
Members received an emergency crash notification from a cellphone. They patrolled but could not locate a vehicle or reach the phone's owner.
Two complaints of dogs running loose remain under investigation.
Members are investigating mischief to school buses parked near Unity Composite High School.
A report of bulls outside a fence in a rural area was resolved when the owner was notified.
Members conducted a check stop in Unity.
Police also responded to one false alarm and one false 911 call.
Wilkie
A found driver's licence was returned to its owner.
A complaint of a stolen licence plate was closed due to insufficient evidence.
Two disturbing-the-peace complaints were reported, one for information and one closed for insufficient evidence after members spoke with those involved.
Members are investigating three separate theft complaints.
Police spoke with an individual regarding family violence.
A complaint of public mischief was unfounded.
Members conducted two wellbeing checks at the request of concerned citizens.
Members responded to a report of threats at a Wilkie school, determined the caller was not in the area and updated the police agency of jurisdiction.
Police also responded to two false alarms.
Macklin
A suspicious vehicle reported at Macklin Lake Regional Park remains under investigation.
Members referred a complaint of dogs running loose at the park to the park authority.
A complaint of fraud was unfounded.
A 30-year-old Macklin man was charged with impaired driving at a traffic stop.
A report of two dogs attacking another dog at the park remains under investigation.
Police are investigating a reported spill.
