Rum Ragged to perform in southwest, west-central Saskatchewan

JUNO Award-nominated Newfoundland folk band Rum Ragged will bring its East Coast sound to southwest and west-central Saskatchewan next month as part of the 2025-26 Stars for Saskatchewan Concert Series.

The tour is presented by the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils (OSAC) in partnership with its member arts councils. Rum Ragged is scheduled to make 17 stops across the province, including five performances in the southwest and west-central region.

The band will perform:

  • March 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Leader Community Centre

  • March 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Luseland Homecoming Hall

  • March 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the Norman Ritchie Community Centre in Kindersley

  • April 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Macklin Credit Union Legacy Centre

  • April 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Majestic Theatre in Biggar

Formed in 2016, Rum Ragged has built a reputation for its interpretation of traditional Newfoundland folk music, blending reverence for its roots with contemporary arrangements. The group features bouzouki, fiddle, bodhrán, banjo, guitar and button accordion, along with vocal harmonies and storytelling that draw from the island’s musical heritage.

Since its inception, the band has toured extensively, performing at major folk, Celtic and roots venues internationally while releasing four studio albums.

OSAC presents more than 300 live community and school performances each year, reaching approximately 75,000 audience members. The concert series is supported by a network of volunteers and funding from Saskatchewan Lotteries, administered by SaskCulture and Canadian Heritage. Proceeds from Saskatchewan Lotteries support more than 12,000 non-profit sport, culture and recreation groups across the province.
