Rosetown author visits Eatonia

The community of Eatonia has extended an invitation to Saskatchewan author Lisa Adair, who will do a book reading at Eaton House on Thursday evening, August 13. Lisa Adair is from Rosetown and has written an adult mystery series called the Glenmere Box Mysteries collection.
Attendees at the wine and cheese event will hear a general introduction to the Glenmere Box Mysteries series, followed by a short reading from each of Lisa's first two books, and a longer excerpt from her newest release.

"The setting for my mystery series is a quaint fictional Saskatchewan town called Glenmere," Lisa explained. "Some of the buildings described in each book are actual homes and businesses found in several small towns within Saskatchewan." However, she rebranded the businesses or homes with a different occupant or purpose in a 1980s setting.
A few of the characters are based on people she knows or has seen around town, with elements added to make the characters come alive. She said her family members have been known to discover characters that seem oddly familiar.
She also described how she created the characters in her youth fantasy collection, the Blaze Peppergrove series.
"To develop the fairies, I mashed the idea of Barbie dolls with either an insect, a bird or a bat. The gnomes are inspired by the chubby ceramic versions people have in their flower beds," she explained. "The cover art is drawn by my daughter Milo." And Lisa designed the covers for the Glenmere Box Mysteries.
Her books are sold worldwide, but she enjoys making appearances at Saskatchewan trade shows, farmers' markets and libraries, reaching out to local markets.
A book review posted a reader's comment which said, "I found myself clinging to the pages with anticipation." Another person who didn't usually read said she read her book while en route to a vacation destination. Lisa responded, "I have always dreamed of seeing someone read my book in an airport."
Lisa's first novel began as an unpublished short story that she later revised with the idea of creating something more in 2019. "I eventually published that short story as one of the chapters in my novel The Puzzle Box in 2023," she explained.
Signed copies of her books will be available at the August 13 wine and cheese event, where guests will be transported back in time by Lisa's expert attention to historical detail and her witty and intriguing cast of characters.
