“After 11 incredible years at Leader Pharmacy, I will be stepping away from pharmacy ownership to pursue other career opportunities and focus on my family,” pharmacist and owner Leah Butte recently announced.

Leader Pharmacy will close on May 1 after serving Leader and the surrounding area for more than a decade. It was a difficult decision for Butte, who started the business in 2015.

As the sole pharmacist, she cited unsuccessful attempts to recruit additional pharmacists, as well as ongoing staffing challenges over the years, as contributing factors in the decision to close the business. The dispensary will close on May 1. However, the storefront will remain open while options for the building’s future are considered. In addition, all prescriptions will be securely transferred to Dirk Family Pharmacy.

In the future, Leah will be found on the family farm enjoying time with family while looking ahead to other career opportunities.
