Leader Arts Council displays photographic works by Canadian artists

LEADER - Leader Arts Council partnered with the Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery to bring an exhibition of photographic works by Canadian artists to Leader. From September 1st to 23rd, fifteen pieces reflecting poetic, political, spiritual, surreal and mythic narratives were on display in the Council Chambers at the town office.

Treena Redman from the Leader Arts Council said each exhibition comes with an education guide for all grades which is useful for teachers who bring their classes to see the exhibition.

“We book the exhibits through the OSAC Visual Arts program. The Arts Council can choose which exhibitions they would like in their community,” she explained. “We are trying to come up with new ideas to get the general public to attend.”

One of those new ideas involves the possibility of forming an art club, similar to a book club, which would meet one night while an exhibition is on display and have discussions based on the education guide.

“We are also looking for people who would be interested in helping hang the exhibitions and take them down,” she added.

A collection of works by Canadian artists was on display in the council chambers at the Leader Town Office from September 1st to 23rd. Members of the public and students from Leader Composite School were welcome to see the exhibition which was on display thanks to the Leader Arts Council and the Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery.
