Join the Saskatchewan Quit Smoking Challenge
By Joan Janzen
February is known as Heart Month, the perfect opportunity for smokers to join the Saskatchewan Quit Smoking Challenge hosted by Lung Sask. The challenge runs until the end of February and offers tools to help quit or cut back on smoking. You could join more than five hundred quitters who have already signed up.
As an added incentive participants are offered weekly prizes, as well as expert resources, a free nicotine replacement therapy trial pack and encouragement from a supportive community. And it’s free!
“Prizes are available by entering our weekly challenges, and participants will be eligible for grand prizes by completing our follow-up survey after the completion of the challenge,” Bethany Verna explained. Bethany is Health Promotion Manager at Lung Saskatchewan. “This challenge is currently running and will wrap up on February 28, 2026.”
There are more than 800 members in the Saskatchewan Quits Facebook Support Group, with participants coming from 138 communities across Saskatchewan. Hosted by Lung Saskatchewan, the group helps everyone navigate their journey in a supported way knowing they are not alone. Last year’s challenge results reported 79 percent of the challenge participants met their goal to either quit or cut back their smoking. Some of those individuals share their success stories in order to inspire others. You can sign up for free at SaskQuits.ca
So why not give it a try? Who knows … you may be one of those quitters who will be able to share your story and inspire others.
