Five local authors featured at Write Out Loud event
SWIFT CURRENT - Write Out Loud will spotlight five local authors on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the Swift Current Lyric Theatre.
The evening will feature writers working across fiction, nonfiction, poetry, illustration and children’s literature.
Chris Beuhler draws on a lifetime of experiences and reflections on the state of the planet and humanity’s place within it. He uses fiction and science fiction to explore those themes. His novel We Are Still Here is now in its second edition, followed by Quest for Nuna Immaluk, published by Friesen Press. His third novel in the series, Ayra, examines a possible future shaped by artificial intelligence. Beuhler lives at Frontier.
Brad Mahon is president and chief executive officer of Great Plains College. In 2022, he received the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for his service to the education sector. His 2025 book, Leadership is Personal, became a No. 1 bestseller in several Amazon business and leadership categories in Canada and the United States. Mahon also continues to perform as a professional guitarist.
Morghie Flaterud is a Swift Current-based illustrator and webcomic creator living on Treaty 4 territory. She currently produces two webcomics, Storms and Spells and Stars in Roses, both available to read online. Flaterud has illustrated children’s books and colouring books for the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency and works across drawing, painting and writing.
Caitlin McCullam-Arnal (she/her) is an emerging writer, government clerk and teacher living in Ravenscrag, Treaty 4 territory in southwest Saskatchewan. Her poetry and fiction have been published in Transition and spring magazines. She is currently working on a novel and a poetry manuscript focused on cougars.
Sara-Norine Perrault, a mother of six from Ponteix, is the author of the children’s book Hello Oli. When time allows, she advocates for autism awareness, practices photography, reads and spends time outdoors. Perrault is passionate about promoting inclusion and accessibility for people like her son, Oli.
Write Out Loud begins at 7 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Swift Current Lyric Theatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10.
