Impaired driving arrest and multiple thefts in weekly Rosetown RCMP report

ROSETOWN – Rosetown and Kyle RCMP responded to an assault with a weapon, an impaired driving arrest and a run of thefts between Aug. 28 and Sept. 3.

On Aug. 28, police received a complaint at 10:08 a.m. about garbage dumped on property near Rosetown. That file remains under investigation. At 6:02 p.m., officers took a report of mischief to property at a Rosetown business, which is also still under investigation. At 6:46 p.m., police received multiple complaints about two Sea-Doos being driven recklessly at Clearwater Lake Regional Park. That file remains open.

Officers investigated a mischief complaint in Zealandia at 4:31 p.m. on Aug. 29. At 10:29 p.m. the same day, police responded to a suspicious person complaint in Rosetown. Members patrolled the area but did not locate anyone.

Police conducted a well-being check in Rosetown at 1:46 a.m. on Aug. 30.

Aug. 31 brought three files. At 7:46 a.m., police received a complaint of a catalytic converter stolen from a vehicle in Rosetown. At 11:40 a.m., officers were notified of a camper stolen from a Rosetown business, and that investigation remains ongoing. At 10:17 p.m., RCMP responded to an assault with a weapon call in the R.M. of Marriott. The subject of the complaint has been charged and released on an undertaking, with conditions, to appear in Rosetown provincial court.

On Sept. 1, police conducted a well-being check in Rosetown at 9:16 a.m. At 1:05 p.m., officers responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint in Elrose, located the vehicle and determined no further action was required. At 4:17 p.m., police received a report of a stolen vehicle and miscellaneous items taken from a land location near Rosetown. At 8:35 p.m., a traffic hazard was reported on Highway 7 near Harris, where a truck hauling a flat deck trailer had a chain hanging off and throwing sparks. Members located the vehicle and spoke with the driver.

On Sept. 2, police were notified at 10:11 a.m. of a fuel trailer on fire just west of Rosetown. No injuries were reported. At 3:01 p.m., officers received a complaint of a Sea-Doo trailer stolen from the boat launch at Clearwater Lake Regional Park. At 7:01 p.m., an erratic driving complaint came in on Highway 7 near Tessier. Members located the vehicle and arrested the driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Charges have been laid.

Police issued 30 traffic-related charges during the week and responded to two 911 misdials and one false alarm.
