Highway 7 bridge rehabilitation west of Saskatoon underway
A $7.1-million project to rehabilitate the eastbound Highway 7 bridge over rail lines west of Saskatoon began earlier this week, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways said.
The bridge is located about three kilometres west of Saskatoon.
Traffic was rerouted onto the westbound structure as work began this week on the eastbound Highway 7 bridge over CN rail lines west of Saskatoon. The $7.1-million rehabilitation project is expected to continue through late fall.
During construction, all traffic has been diverted onto the westbound bridge, with one lane in each direction operating on that structure. Overall traffic width has been reduced to 4.3 metres.
The ministry said the work was needed because the eastbound bridge, built in 1962, was nearing the end of its service life. The westbound bridge was built in 1994.
Motorists can expect delays and are advised to obey all signage, slow down and watch for workers in the area.
The project is expected to be completed by late fall.
The rail line beneath the bridge is operated by Canadian National.
The ministry said it appreciates motorists’ patience during construction and reminded drivers to check the Highway Hotline for updates and route information.
