Denzil Days returns June 27-28

DENZIL—The Village of Denzil is gearing up for another weekend of family fun, community spirit and horsepower as Denzil Days returns June 27 and 28.

One of the highlights of the annual celebration is the tractor pull, which has become a major attraction for both competitors and spectators.

Greg Rissling, a member of the Denzil Recreation Board and one of the organizers behind the tractor pull, said the event continues to grow while helping support recreation and community projects in the village.

"We all got older and decided there had to be another way to bring people together," he joked. "The tractor pull has turned into something people really enjoy."

Rissling's passion for antique tractors helped spark the idea. After restoring several tractors and hosting events showcasing the equipment, interest quickly grew among local families and visitors.

The weekend offers much more than tractors.

Families can enjoy children's activities, including pedal tractor races, carnival attractions, concessions and community gatherings throughout the weekend. The Denzil Museum will also be open, giving visitors a chance to explore the area's history while taking in the festivities.

Following the tractor pull, participants and spectators can enjoy a community supper, prizes and social activities.

Rissling said events such as Denzil Days are especially important for smaller rural communities.

"We want to make sure our little village keeps moving forward," he said. "It takes people working together."

The recreation board oversees a variety of community initiatives, with volunteers from different groups helping organize events throughout the year.

Despite Denzil's small population, community support remains strong.

"People band together here," said Rissling. "That's what makes these events work."

Visitors from across west-central Saskatchewan are invited to attend and experience a weekend that combines rural traditions, family entertainment and community pride.

Denzil Days takes place June 27 and 28. Organizers encourage residents, former residents and visitors alike to come out and enjoy the celebrations.
