Break-ins under investigation in Rosetown area: RCMP

ROSETOWN — Police are investigating multiple break-ins and other incidents reported over the past week in Rosetown and surrounding communities.

RCMP received a complaint April 21 of a break-in to trailers at a storage area east of the campground in Rosetown. The investigation remains ongoing.

Another break and enter was reported April 23 at a garage in Rosetown. Nothing appeared to have been stolen and there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

On April 27, RCMP also received a report of a possible break-in in the RM of Victory. That investigation is ongoing.

Police responded to several traffic-related incidents during the week. High winds were blamed after a semi tractor-trailer was blown into the ditch near Fiske on April 24. No injuries were reported. Officers also checked on a separate vehicle in the ditch along Highway 4 near Kyle the same day.

An erratic driver reported April 25 on Highway 7 near Fiske was later intercepted by Kindersley RCMP, who issued tickets to the driver.

RCMP were called to a semi tractor fire near Elrose on April 28 and assisted the local fire department. No injuries were reported.

A vehicle struck a coyote on Highway 7 near Harris early April 28, leaving the vehicle undrivable. The incident was reported for information purposes.

Police continue to investigate a criminal harassment complaint in Rosetown reported April 27, along with a separate harassment complaint in Kyle on April 28.

An assault reported April 28 in the RM of Marriott resulted in charges, with the accused scheduled to appear in court. Another reported assault in Rosetown the same day was determined to be unfounded.

Other calls included mischief to the Zealandia rink April 29, mischief to property in Rosetown, an animal complaint in the RM of Monet, and a suspicious vehicle parked on private property April 23, which was resolved without further action.

In total, officers issued 79 traffic-related charges during the reporting period. RCMP also responded to two 911 misdial calls and three false alarms.
