Assault charge laid in Zealandia
Rosetown/Kyle RCMP have laid a charge of assault with a weapon following an incident in Zealandia on Sept. 3. Police received the complaint at 8:01 p.m. and, following an investigation, charged the subject of the complaint. That person has been released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court in November.
Earlier that evening, at 7:50 p.m., RCMP responded to a collision involving a semi and a light pole in Rosetown. SaskPower was notified and no injuries were reported.
On Sept. 4, police received a complaint of fuel theft from a business in Zealandia at 9:16 a.m. The file remains under investigation. At 11:50 a.m., officers assisted with a medical call in Elrose. At 7:58 p.m., RCMP were called about a rig shack that had fallen off a truck and was blocking Highway 44 near Greenan. Members attended, but the debris had already been cleared from the highway. At 11:38 p.m., a vehicle struck a cow near Beechy. The driver was not injured and the owner of the cattle was notified.
RCMP were dispatched to a motorcycle collision on Highway 42 on Sept. 5 at 6:25 p.m. Minor injuries were reported.
On Sept. 7 at 4:29 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle collision near Harris. EMS was dispatched. One vehicle was stopped in the middle of the highway, blocking traffic, and the other was on its side in the ditch. Minor injuries were reported.
A business in Rosetown reported a gas-and-dash on Sept. 8 at 1:58 p.m.
On Sept. 9, RCMP received three calls. At 8:39 a.m., police were notified of an abandoned vehicle in the R.M. of Victory. Members spoke with the owner, who was dealing with a mechanical issue, and no further action was required. At 12:28 p.m., officers attended a report of a suspicious person at a Rosetown business and spoke with the individual. At 9:30 p.m., a suspicious vehicle was reported in the R.M. of Monet. Members patrolled the area but could not locate the vehicle.
During the reporting period, Rosetown/Kyle RCMP issued 59 traffic-related charges and responded to one 911 misdial and one false alarm.
