Antique threshing day raises $7,598 for three area food banks

By Joan Janzen

Local food banks at Luseland, Macklin and Denzil were the recipients of the proceeds from a bountiful harvest.

Greg Rissling was thrilled to present the proceeds from the antique threshing demonstration held on his farm near Denzil in mid-September. The total included donations collected at the beverage and snack table and the proceeds from the wheat crop, along with a matching amount from the Bunge grain elevator in Luseland.

“The wheat crop came in at 82 bushels an acre!” Greg reported. It was the best crop ever!

On Thursday, Oct. 15, he was able to present three cheques, each for $2,532.82, to the Luseland Food Bank, the Macklin and District Food Bank and Denzil Care and Share.
