Anri’s book encourages readers to rise above every obstacle

By Joan Janzen

Anri Steyn loves incorporating creativity into everything she does. She is now happy to announce that her book, A Story Worth Telling … Don’t Quit. Rise Above It, is available on Amazon.com.

The stories worth telling are drawn from her life, which began in South Africa, and her journey to Canada in May 2023, alongside her husband, Pieter, and their two sons, ages eight and 11. Her creative writing began in 2018, when a friend invited her to a conference where people were encouraged to connect with the Creator and their creative side.

“I started creating quotes,” Anri said. “Eventually I started writing, but the idea was never to have a book.” However, seven years later, those quotes became the chapters of her book—each one accompanied by her own life experiences and lessons learned.

“We learn every day; there are things happening every single day. It’s nice to share our story in this way,” she explained. Her book shares the life lessons she has learned from childhood to the present.

The message she hopes to share with her readers is the same one she wants to instill in her children. “The lesson I want them to get out of this is that we need to rely on God to give us strength,” she said. “Our support is going to come from Christ. Our identity is found in Christ, and we need to find our strength in Christ.”

While writing her book, Anri explored more of her creative side and started putting her quotes on T-shirts and tote bags. “I started playing around with that, and I call it Rise Above It Creation,” she said. “I wanted it to become a movement, not just a book. Everything will flow out of the book.” Both Anri’s book and the merchandise she offers are designed to inspire and encourage others.

Anri, Pieter, and their boys continue to live out their story each day. They are writing the pages of many more books to come as they continue to rise above every obstacle and never quit. Their everyday lives will keep Anri supplied with a multitude of stories, life lessons, and encouragement to share with others.

She ends one of her chapters with these words: “Live in such a way that your life becomes proof to others that He is the One who did it all.” Those are just a few words among the 40 inspirational pieces in Anri’s book—messages that will help you “rise above it” as you search for hope.
