Williston Basin Petroleum Conference: Moe on Energy, Trade and the Federal Election

BY BRIAN ZINCHUK

Premier Scott Moe & Cenovus Executive Vice President Jeff Lawson spoke at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference on April 29 to kick off the event. The discussion ranged from trade barriers and pipelines to careers and of course, the federal election. This was the first public appearance of Moe the morning after the election, so he had a few things to say about that, and working with the new administration.

In addition to the conference attendees, also present for the speech were a substantial number of Sask Party MLAs and cabinet ministers, as well as NDP Leader Carla Beck and her Energy Critic Sally Housser.

This is the first of numerous upcoming stories based on the conference this year, which saw it shift back to a heavy emphasis on oil development. Over 400 people attended, and the topics ranged from potential new plays to application of CO@-enhanced oil recovery in southeast Saskatchewan. It also included talks about development in northwest Saskatchewan, which was a first for this conference.
