The Garden Bug: Sweetspire

By Brenda Weaver

This shrub is found among wetlands and along stream banks. It can tolerate a wide range of soil and light conditions. Growing 4 to 8 feet tall, with graceful arching branches and fragrant bottlebrush-like flower clusters that appear in late spring, it boasts beautiful fall foliage. Its leaf colors range from copper to orange to gold, and last into winter.
