The Garden Bug: Gomphrena

By Brenda Weaver

This compact and colorful plant produces flowerheads that brighten any garden. It is excellent for use in freshly-cut bouquets, or dried to use in dried flower arrangements. Gomphrena likes well-drained soil in full sun, typically growing about 12" to 24" tall. It may need support for its stems. These plants show good tolerance for drought and high heat, and do very well in borders, rock gardens or cutting gardens.
