Wilkie Museum winds down 2025 season

WILKIE - The Wilkie Museum is slowly putting a cap on the 2025 tourism season.

The year started with a bang, thanks to the Hometown Raffle. Tickets were sold at various businesses and during the Museum Car Show and Canada Day festivities. Each event and the raffle netted the museum nearly $ 6,000 in proceeds, which were immediately put to good use.

Haylee spent the time to neatly display these items donated from a descendant of Gordon Ellis, who was a part of the first department store in Wilkie.

Daniel Trembley was hired to paint the School House and the Icehouse, as well as redo the walkways to the R.M. Building and the School House. These walkways were also painted.

The museum was able to hire two students for the summer. Lilly was hired from July 3rd to August 28th, and Haylee was employed from July 3rd to August 16th. Both worked very hard to clean up and show off the museum. This included tours, more painting, and working on exhibits.

At the end of August, the museum held its annual movie night. The movies chosen were A Minecraft Movie and the 1975 comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The evening was perfect, albeit for the mosquitoes.

The museum isn't quite done fundraising, though, as there are still the December pancake breakfast and A Saskatchewan Christmas raffle, which will be running throughout parts of October, November, and December. Keep an eye out for posters and tickets for this.
