WILKIE — A Wilkie man is facing multiple charges after RCMP seized firearms, methamphetamine and copper wire during a search of a residence on April 25.
Officers from Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team and Wilkie RCMP executed a search warrant as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation in the community. RCMP Police Dog Services and Traffic Services also assisted.
Police say they located methamphetamine, one firearm and one prohibited firearm, along with a large quantity of copper wire. One adult man and two adult women were arrested at the scene. The women were later released without charge.
Marlon Marchewka, 41, of Wilkie is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, multiple firearm-related offences including unsafe storage and unauthorized possession, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unlicensed possession of a firearm with ammunition, and failure to comply with a release order.
RCMP say the investigation also led to charges related to a separate copper wire theft from a grain elevator earlier in April that caused significant damage. Marchewka is additionally charged with break and enter, mischief over $5,000 and theft over $5,000.
Marchewka made his first court appearance in Battleford provincial court on April 27. The investigation remains ongoing.
