Unity RCMP respond to break and enter, mischief and mental health calls
Unity RCMP and surrounding detachments responded to a wide range of calls over the past week, including break and enter investigations, mental health concerns, neighbour disputes, traffic collisions and several mischief complaints.
In the Unity area, officers conducted two wellbeing checks at the request of concerned citizens and responded to a report of a loose dog, which was referred to the local bylaw officer. Members also investigated a breach of the peace complaint, with the individual involved being charged in an unrelated matter.
A 40-year-old man was charged with mischief after police responded to a disturbing the peace complaint. Officers also acted as mediators during two separate neighbour disputes.
Unity RCMP assisted CP Police with an investigation, responded to a Mental Health Act complaint that remains under investigation, and investigated a report of a vehicle collision in Unity. No injuries were reported and no charges were laid.
Members also responded to a report of a dog attacking another dog in Unity, which remains under investigation. Officers patrolled a rural area after receiving a complaint about a suspicious person but were unable to locate the individual.
CN Rail also reported cattle near railway tracks in a rural area. Police contacted the property representative, who confirmed there were no cattle in the area. Members also dealt with three traffic complaints.
Wilkie RCMP investigated a criminal harassment complaint that was determined to be unfounded.
A 33-year-old woman from Vonda was charged with mischief and failing to comply with a release order condition after officers responded to a disturbing the peace complaint.
Police also responded to a noise complaint, issuing a verbal warning, and located a person who had been reported missing. Officers conducted a wellbeing check, investigated another disturbing the peace complaint where there was insufficient evidence to proceed, and advised a complainant that a property dispute was a civil matter.
Members also responded to a mental health concern, a single-vehicle collision in a rural area where no one was injured, and continue to investigate an animal welfare complaint. Wilkie RCMP also handled one traffic complaint and one false alarm.
In the Macklin area, RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 14. There were no injuries and the collision was reported for insurance purposes.
Police also investigated a complaint of harassing communications, but there was insufficient evidence to proceed. Members responded to a Mental Health Act complaint and ensured the individual involved was in contact with family members.
A 51-year-old man from Montreal Lake was charged with break and enter and commit an indictable offence, along with mischief, following a residential break and enter investigation. Officers also investigated a report of a suspicious person near a residence, with that individual being charged in an unrelated matter.
Members continue to investigate a criminal harassment complaint. Macklin RCMP also responded to one traffic complaint, one false 911 call and one false alarm.
