Unity man charged with assault, stolen Provost vehicle found at Macklin Lake

A 37-year-old Unity man faces an assault charge after RCMP responded to a complaint during the week of Sept. 8 to 14.

Unity RCMP also responded to a single-vehicle collision. Emergency medical services took the driver to Unity Health Centre. The matter remains under investigation.

Members investigated a complaint of criminal harassment, which was unfounded. Police spoke to an individual reported walking on the highway and to another person about a property concern. Regina Police Service asked members to try to locate an individual in the detachment area.

Police attended a report of a cow on the highway, made sure the animal was off the roadway and notified the owner. Members also assisted EMS with a patient, received a request from an individual to dispose of a firearm and spoke to the subject of a Mental Health Act complaint. Unity recorded two traffic complaints and one false 911 call.

In Wilkie, RCMP were asked to attend a residence with Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) while the unit boarded it up. SCAN later told members it attended the property on its own with no issues.

Police received a report of an abandoned vehicle in a rural area near Wilkie. The vehicle was not stolen and the property owner was notified. A fraud complaint remains under investigation. RCMP received several complaints of individuals sleeping in a vehicle, and members spoke to the people involved.

Two moose-related collisions were reported on the highway near Landis. In one, a vehicle hit a moose. In the other, a vehicle hit a moose that was already dead on the road. No one was injured in either collision and both were reported for insurance purposes.

Members attended a report of a break and enter at a property structure but found no sign of one. Police responded to a report of puppies running loose on a Wilkie roadway and made sure the animals were in an enclosed area. A report of an individual not complying with a release order was unfounded. A report of individuals littering in Wilkie remains under investigation. Wilkie also recorded one traffic complaint, one false alarm and one noise complaint.

Wilkie Citizens on Patrol Program (COPP) members conducted 11 patrols in August, covering 609 kilometres in 35 hours in Wilkie and area. So far in 2026, COPP members have volunteered 490 hours and travelled 4,019 kilometres over 74 patrols. In Macklin, RCMP received a theft complaint. The subject of the complaint returned the property to the owner and the complainant declined to proceed. Police also received a report of an abandoned vehicle at Macklin Lake Regional Park. The vehicle had been stolen from Provost, but there was insufficient evidence to proceed. Macklin recorded one false alarm.
