Teine Energy partnership ushers in new era for Kindersley Klippers

There was a new name attached to a familiar hockey tradition Friday night as the Teine Energy Kindersley Junior Klippers took to the ice for their 2026-27 home opener at the West Central Events Centre.
The Klippers recently announced Teine Energy as the organization’s new title sponsor, a significant partnership that will see the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League club officially known as the Teine Energy Kindersley Junior Klippers.

For a community-owned junior hockey team, the commitment represents much more than a new name.
Teine Energy’s support will help strengthen the organization both on and off the ice while helping the Klippers continue to provide opportunities for young players to develop, compete and represent Kindersley throughout the province.
“Our board and staff are incredibly grateful to Teine Energy for believing in what the Kindersley Junior Klippers represent and for choosing to invest in our organization and our community,” said Klippers General Manager Ryan Gibson when the partnership was announced. “We are proud to represent Teine Energy and look forward to building an incredible partnership together in the years ahead.”
Teine Energy Senior Vice-President of Production and Operations Tyler Homan said the company sees the Klippers as an important part of the community.
“The Klippers play an important role in bringing the community together and helping develop the next generation of local athletes,” Homan said. “We’re excited to support an organization that shares our commitment to teamwork, pride, and community.”
The significance of that new partnership was on display Friday, Sept. 25, when the Klippers welcomed the Yorkton Terriers to the West Central Events Centre for their first home game of the regular season.
Kindersley gave the hometown crowd something to celebrate early.
Cobe Perlinger opened the scoring just 4:14 into the first period, finding the net on the power play to give the Klippers a 1-0 lead. The celebration included a glove bump with his brother Cam, as the Klippers enjoyed the early advantage.
Yorkton answered at 8:39 when Jake Briltz tied the game at one.
Neither team could break the deadlock during a scoreless and penalty-filled second period, sending the teams into the final 20 minutes tied 1-1.
The Terriers took control in the third.
Austin Horbachewsky scored on a breakaway for what proved to be the game-winning goal before Mathys Morrissette added another for Yorkton. DJ Brass rounded out the scoring with his first SJHL goal as the Terriers skated away with a 4-1 victory.
Yorkton goaltender Callum Creig stopped 21 of the 22 shots he faced. The SJHL credited Briltz with a goal and an assist in the victory, while Horbachewsky's game-winner was already his second of the young season.
While the final score wasn't the one the hometown crowd was hoping for, Friday night marked the beginning of something bigger than a single hockey game.
The Teine Energy name now joins the Klippers crest as the organization begins a new chapter — one backed by a major investment in junior hockey and in the Kindersley community.
For generations, Klippers hockey has given local fans a team to call their own. With Teine Energy stepping forward as title sponsor, that community tradition has received an important vote of confidence as another season gets underway.
