The students gained hands-on experience in welding, carpentry and electrical work during the one-day conference. They took part in interactive workshops covering 12 trades, along with six technology programs that included design and manufacturing and veterinary technology.

More than 80 volunteers served as mentors and role models throughout the day.

The KCS students toured the facility, visited information booths, listened to guest speakers and shared a lunch. They also came away with a clearer picture of the career opportunities available in skilled trades.
