Slippery start

A jackknifed semi blocked the eastbound lane of Highway 7 east of Marengo after a call at 8:47 a.m. Saturday, April 25, with reports of injuries and a fuel leak. Two rescue units, two traffic units and a command unit were dispatched, with EMS, RCMP and fire crews all on scene. EMS assessed the driver while fire and RCMP secured the area and set up traffic control. The highway was closed at 11:01 a.m. before tow trucks arrived to clear the scene. RCMP and EMS departed shortly after, with fire crews remaining on site. Roads were reported to be very slippery and ice-covered.
