Saskatchewan Health Authority Annual Report 2023-24
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is pleased to provide you and the residents of our province with the SHA Annual Report 2023-24.
The annual report demonstrates our commitment to transparency and accountability. This year’s report includes the approved audited financial statements for the year ending March 31, 2024.
During the 2023-24 fiscal year, the SHA focused on enhancing health care for all Saskatchewan residents by concentrating on the following areas:
ensuring adequate health human resources;
improving team-based care in the community;
improving team-based care in hospitals;
improving mental health and addictions services;
improving cultural responsiveness; and
investing in health-care infrastructure.
By working toward these goals, we are aligning and integrating health services to ensure people receive high- quality, timely health care, regardless of where they live in Saskatchewan. More information on these areas of focus is outlined in the Ministry of Health’s 2023-24 Business Plan.
Our commitment to a philosophy of patient and family centred care guides our activities and is the foundation for our values as an organization: safety, accountability, respect, collaboration and compassion.
Our commitment to accountability and transparency is demonstrated through SHA Board of Director meetings held publicly every quarter; our internal communications with more than 44,000 staff, 2,746 physicians
with SHA privileges and 485 resident doctors; and our public communications through the SHA website (www.saskhealthauthority.ca), SHA’s social media (Facebook, X, Instagram) channels, and other regular engagement with community leaders and stakeholders.
This past year, our health-care teams continued to work towards a single, ambitious vision: Healthy People, Healthy Saskatchewan; and strengthened our commitment to provide safe, high-quality care as close to home as possible by tapping into one of our greatest strengths – our people.
As always, the progress achieved in the past fiscal year is due to the tremendous dedication and commitment of staff and physicians of the SHA and our many partners, including the patients, residents, volunteers and families who are valued members of the health-care team. Our deepest appreciation goes to our staff, physicians and leadership for all they have done to care for the people of Saskatchewan over this past year; their dedication has not gone unnoticed. By working together as one organization, we have been able to manage and coordinate services through exceptional challenges resulting in true transformation, and have become stronger as an organization, using the lessons learned to propel us towards a bright future.
