Rosetown RCMP report series of incidents across region
Rosetown and Kyle RCMP responded to a range of incidents across west-central Saskatchewan between Jan. 30 and Feb. 5, including assaults, traffic complaints, suspicious activity and break-and-enter investigations.
On Jan. 30, Rosetown RCMP received a report of an assault in Harris, Sask. The incident remains under investigation. Later that day, officers conducted a wellbeing check in Elrose and responded to reports of an erratic driver on Highway 4, locating the vehicle and speaking with the driver. That evening, police also investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle in Elrose but were unable to locate it.
In the early hours of Jan. 31, Rosetown and Kyle RCMP responded to several calls related to extremely icy highway conditions. Police reported all passengers were safe and no serious injuries occurred. RCMP are reminding motorists to avoid travel during extreme weather, noting that unnecessary driving can place additional strain on emergency services. Later that day, officers attended a dispute at a local business in Rosetown, where no further action was required, and executed a warrant on behalf of another police agency.
On Feb. 1, Rosetown RCMP responded to an assault complaint in Rosetown. A 40-year-old man from the community was arrested and charged with assault. That day also included reports of a hit-and-run, loose horses on Highway 7, and an erratic driver, though officers were unable to locate the latter vehicle. In the evening, Kyle RCMP patrolled an area following a report of a suspicious vehicle at a Rosetown business, with no suspicious activity found.
Kyle RCMP conducted a wellbeing check in Rosetown early Feb. 2 and later responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a rural property near Kyle. Officers located the vehicle and advised the individuals involved to leave the property. Another traffic complaint on Highway 7 later that night could not be substantiated.
On Feb. 3, Kyle RCMP began investigating a break and enter at the Elrose post office. Rosetown RCMP also investigated a suspicious vehicle complaint in town and a separate break and enter at a rural shop location. No additional details have been released. A suspicious person complaint received Feb. 4 in Rosetown was determined to be unfounded.
Police also reported additional traffic complaints on Highway 7 on Feb. 5, though no vehicle was located.
During the reporting period, RCMP issued 16 traffic-related charges. Police also responded to one 911 misdial and two false alarm calls.
