Rosetown RCMP report fatal crash, 60 traffic charges
ROSETOWN – Rosetown and Kyle RCMP responded to calls ranging from a fatal crash in the R.M. of Marriott to a missing person at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park between Aug. 14 and 27.
On Aug. 15, officers conducted a well-being check in Rosetown at 3:05 a.m. and began investigating a fraud complaint in Rosetown at 2 p.m. On Aug. 16, RCMP received an erratic driving complaint on Highway 7 near Rosetown at 1:15 p.m. Patrols were made but the vehicle was not located.
Members assisted EMS with a medical emergency at Clearwater Lake Regional Park at 12:59 a.m. on Aug. 17 and are investigating a false pretences complaint in Kyle reported at 5:14 a.m. the same day. On Aug. 18, RCMP attended a suspicious person complaint in Rosetown at 7:33 p.m. and no further action was required. A noise complaint in Harris at 11:21 p.m. brought patrols, but the quads and motorbikes were not located.
Aug. 19 brought three files. Officers responded to a well-being check on Highway 4 north of Kyle at 10:52 a.m. and gave the individual a courtesy ride. At 2:27 p.m. they assisted Saskatchewan Highway Patrol with a situation on Highway 7 near Rosetown. At 5:24 p.m. they took a report of a deer versus vehicle collision near Rosetown, where the vehicle had minor damage but remained driveable.
A criminal harassment complaint in Rosetown reported at 6:12 p.m. on Aug. 20 remains under investigation. On Aug. 21, SaskEnergy reported a customer uttering threats at 3:24 p.m. and charges have been laid. Members responded to a Coroner's Act file in Beechy at 4:23 p.m. On Aug. 22, RCMP received a complaint of an assault at a youth party in the R.M. of St. Andrews at 12:24 a.m. Members spoke with the youth involved and the file was cleared by departmental discretion.
Members were dispatched to a family dispute in the R.M. of St. Andrews at 10:27 a.m. on Aug. 24, and charges have been laid under Section 270(2) of the Criminal Code for assaulting a police officer. A well-being check was conducted in Elrose at 11:04 a.m.
On Aug. 25, a reported theft of a motor vehicle was deemed unfounded after investigation. RCMP responded to a crash that morning in the R.M. of Marriott. An adult male was declared deceased on scene. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating.
RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 15 near Milden at 10:04 a.m. on Aug. 26, where minor injuries were reported. Members are investigating a trespassing complaint in Rosetown reported at 1:09 p.m. At 3:42 p.m., RCMP, conservation officers and park personnel located a missing person safe at Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park. At 3:59 p.m., officers took a report of a boat taking on water in the middle of the lake at the same park. Conservation officers assisted with towing the boat and no injuries were reported.
Police issued 60 traffic-related charges during the period and responded to two 911 misdials and no false alarm calls.
