RCMP respond to wide range of calls across Unity, Wilkie, and Macklin

Between September 2 and September 8, 2025, RCMP members in Unity, Wilkie, and Macklin responded to a variety of calls, ranging from mental health concerns and property damage to firearm charges and traffic complaints.

Unity

Unity RCMP dealt with several Mental Health Act complaints, conducting wellness checks and transporting individuals to Battlefords Union Hospital for assessment. Members also mediated a custody dispute and handled complaints of harassing communications, disturbing the peace, and uttering threats—many of which were deemed unfounded.

A significant incident involved a 42-year-old man with no fixed address who was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and unsafe storage of a firearm after police responded to a report of an unwanted individual in a public area.

Officers also responded to a two-vehicle collision in town. No injuries were reported and no charges were laid. In addition, there were four traffic complaints, one false alarm, and one false 911 call.

Wilkie

In Wilkie, RCMP received complaints of property damage, breaches of undertaking conditions, suspicious vehicles, trespassing, and disturbing the peace.

A 69-year-old local man was charged with uttering threats, mischief, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle after police were called to a residence. In a separate case, a youth was charged with assault and mischief following a report of an altercation.

RCMP also handled a dog complaint, though there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

Macklin

Macklin RCMP calls included disturbing the peace, fraud, trespassing, and suspicious individuals. Officers also investigated a break and enter at the Macklin Golf Clubhouse sheds and property damage at Kinette Park.

Police attended a sudden death of a child in Macklin; the death was determined not to be suspicious. RCMP also assisted EMS with a patient and responded to one traffic complaint.
