RCMP officers in Saskatchewan begin transition to new navy-blue uniform shirts
Saskatchewan RCMP officers across the province will soon begin wearing new navy-blue uniform shirts as part of the national police service's ongoing uniform modernization program.
The transition begins this month, with frontline officers gradually replacing the traditional grey shirts with the new navy-blue version.
During the changeover, the RCMP says the public should expect to see officers wearing either the new blue shirts or the previous grey shirts while on duty.
The RCMP acknowledges the change in appearance may cause some confusion, particularly as reports of people impersonating police officers continue to occur.
Anyone who is uncertain about the identity of an officer can ask to see their identification. Members of the public can also contact their local RCMP detachment's non-emergency line or call 310-RCMP to confirm whether an officer has been dispatched to their location.
