RCMP briefs from Unity, Macklin and Wilkie detachments

RCMP responded to a range of incidents in Unity, Wilkie and Macklin during the reporting period, including a vehicle fire in a rural area near Unity that was extinguished by the Unity Fire Department and deemed not suspicious.

Police in the Unity area also investigated a hit-and-run involving vehicle damage, issued a 60-day roadside suspension during a traffic stop, and responded to reports of an abandoned vehicle, a break and enter at a local church and alleged breaches of court-ordered conditions. Several of those matters remain under investigation. Officers also handled a property dispute, conducted a wellbeing check and responded to false alarms, traffic complaints and a false 911 call. CN Police reported railway crossing malfunctions near Senlac and Tramping Lake.

In the Wilkie area, RCMP attended two separate single-vehicle collisions near Landis caused by icy road conditions. No injuries were reported and no charges were laid. Police are also investigating reports of an assault and a driver operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, along with additional traffic complaints and false 911 calls.

Macklin RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious person near a business, conducted two wellbeing checks and investigated a report of a stolen vehicle that was later determined to be unfounded. One traffic complaint was also reported.

Anyone with information about crimes in the area is encouraged to contact their local RCMP detachment or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
