Pair charged after Wilkie drug investigation
Two people are facing drug trafficking charges following an investigation by Wilkie RCMP, while officers across the Unity detachment area also responded to incidents ranging from a reported sexual assault to a vehicle fire.
In Wilkie, 70-year-old Melvin Abramson of Wilkie and 26-year-old Micayla Jimmy of North Battleford have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine.
Police also reported a stolen vehicle and a separate theft, both of which remain under investigation. Other calls included a complaint of disturbing the peace, which resulted in a verbal warning, a report of a lost wallet, and an incident involving damage to a railway crossing arm near Reford. Officers also handled two traffic complaints and a false 911 call, and spoke with an individual regarding a custody agreement.
In Unity, RCMP are investigating a complaint of sexual assault and a single-vehicle collision near the community. Officers also conducted a wellbeing check at the request of concerned citizens and responded to a Mental Health Act complaint, with the individual left in the care of a family member.
Police received a theft complaint in Unity, but said there was insufficient evidence to proceed. Members also responded to a report of two dogs lunging at an individual at a business; no charges were laid. Four traffic complaints were also reported.
In Macklin, RCMP responded to a report of a truck fire near Primate. Police said the fire was not considered suspicious.
The Wilkie Citizens on Patrol Program reported significant volunteer activity, logging 443 patrol hours in 2025, covering 3,463 kilometres over 69 patrols. In early 2026, members conducted nine patrols in January, six in February and 10 in March, continuing community patrol efforts in the area.
Police continue to encourage the public to report suspicious activity to their local RCMP detachment or through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
