Man charged after Macklin break and enter

MACKLIN— A 51-year-old man is facing charges after an alleged break and enter at a Macklin residence in the early morning hours of July 10.
Unity RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at about 1 a.m. Police say an adult male entered a residence, where he was confronted by an adult female occupant. An altercation occurred before the suspect fled the scene.
The woman did not report any significant physical injuries.
RCMP officers searched the area and located the suspect in Macklin at about 3:45 a.m. He was arrested and later treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries police say he sustained during the altercation.
Following the investigation, Corey Kristenson, 51, of Montreal Lake Cree Nation, has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit the indictable offence of assault, and one count of mischief under $5,000.
Kristenson is scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on July 15.
Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services and Forensic Identification Services assisted with the investigation.
