Mace named CFL Coach of the Year as Roughriders earn inaugural Goveia Award
The Saskatchewan Roughriders capped a championship season with major recognition across the Canadian Football League, led by head coach Corey Mace being named the league’s Coach of the Year.
Mace guided Saskatchewan to a 12-6 record and a first-place finish before leading the club to its fifth Grey Cup title. In just his second season, he established the Roughriders as the CFL’s most complete team, finishing first in key categories including fewest points allowed, rushing defence and time of possession. The team also ranked near the top in offensive production and efficiency.

Under Mace, the Roughriders built a disciplined, balanced roster and a strong team culture that translated into consistent results. The championship marked his fourth Grey Cup win overall, adding to previous titles as a player and assistant coach.
The Roughriders were also named the inaugural winners of the Ted Goveia Football Operations Award, introduced this season to recognize excellence in roster construction, scouting and organizational leadership. The award honours the late Hamilton Tiger-Cats executive and is voted on by CFL football operations departments.
Led by general manager Jeremy O’Day, Saskatchewan’s football operations group assembled a deep and resilient roster that delivered throughout the season. The club finished with the league’s best record and saw key contributions from across the lineup, including strong offensive line play and an efficient passing attack led by quarterback Trevor Harris.
Together, the honours reflect a full-organization effort — from coaching to player personnel — that resulted in a Grey Cup championship and league-wide recognition.
