Luseland Police Service reports August calls

LUSELAND — The Luseland Police Service responded to a variety of calls for service during August, ranging from scams and impaired driving complaints to a break and enter, firearms complaint and grass fire.

Police received four scam complaints during the month, along with three reports involving suspicious vehicles, activity or persons. Officers also dealt with four bylaw complaints, two alarm calls and two mental health-related calls for service.

LPS received three impaired driving complaints. In one case, a driver was removed from the road due to excessive fatigue. In a separate incident, police issued a motorist a three-day driver’s licence suspension and vehicle impoundment after the driver was found to be above the provincial limit for alcohol consumption.

Police responded to a break and enter that resulted in theft under $5,000, as well as a separate report of theft under $5,000 that was later withdrawn at the request of the complainant. A report of mischief under $5,000 was investigated and determined to be unfounded.

Other calls during August included an incident involving an aircraft, a general driving complaint, an abandoned vehicle, a request to keep the peace, a grass fire, a cyclist causing a road safety hazard, a firearms complaint, a family dispute and a disturbance.
