By Joan Janzen

KINDERSLEY – Kindersley Legion Branch 57 is hosting a magical evening on November 6 that families won’t want to miss. Dr. Von Houligan’s Family Extravaganza is coming to Kindersley as part of the True Patriot Love Tour. The star of the one-man show, Allister Denton, is taking his performance to small towns throughout Saskatchewan.

“I was born and raised in Battleford, Saskatchewan. I served in the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, hence my desire to raise money for True Patriot Love veterans’ charity,” Denton explained.

True Patriot Love is a Canadian national charity that supports members of the Canadian Armed Forces, veterans and their families through grant funding, research and advocacy.

Not only will the audience be supporting a worthwhile cause, but they’ll also be having a whole lot of fun. The show appeals to all ages, from kids to seniors, bringing classic 1920s-style vaudeville and variety arts to Kindersley. Card tricks will have you scratching your head, and you’ll marvel as the escape artist frees himself from restraints. His old-fashioned tricks include juggling, stunts, magic, illusions and balancing acts.

You can expect active audience participation, as kids and adults will be called upon to help him out on stage. His sharp wit and comedy are guaranteed to have everyone laughing.

Denton was taught his first magic trick when he was just seven years of age, and has been performing professionally since 1999. Since then, he has entertained folks all over the world, from Paris to Las Vegas to New Zealand, and now Kindersley.

“I love performing! It makes me happy getting people to laugh and giving them joy. I get to raise money for veterans who have given so much and deserve our support,” the performer said.
