KINDERSLEY – Everyone is invited to join the Kindersley Royal Purple at their first Care Bag Walk on October 17th. President Darlene May will be there to greet you at the Beach, where participants will walk around the walking trail beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Each of their forty purple care bags contains personal care items and a teddy bear, which are donated to the West Central Crisis Centre in Kindersley, and twenty additional bags are given to Prairie Sky rehab centre in Calgary. The bags are for victims of interpersonal violence and brain injury.
Darlene asks all participants at the walk to donate items for the bags or bring a cash donation. “Cash donations will go towards next year’s items since Purple Thursday is October 15th and we won’t be doing the walk until Oct. 17th,” she explained. Members from the local Royal Purple and UCW will be making up bags on October 13th at Western Pizza.
“There are baskets at Pharmasave, the Dollar Store and Co-op Pharmacy where people can donate items,” Darlene added. Three local hotels also donate items, and if you contact Darlene, she is willing to pick up items.
National Vice-President Sandi Lougheed reported, “One in three Canadian women will encounter intimate partner violence in their lifetime. Our Purple Thursday Care Bags show every survivor that someone in our society cares about them. They offer relief and hope for a better future.”
Participants are asked to register for the walk by contacting Darlene at 306-460-8947 or the newest Royal Purple member, Phoenix Warman, at 306-460-4448.
Come rain or shine, the walk will go ahead as planned, and Darlene would love to see twenty or more participants join together to support this worthwhile venture.
