Kerrobert Composite School marks National Indigenous Peoples Day

Kerrobert Composite School recognized National Indigenous Peoples Day by celebrating the histories, cultures, languages and contributions of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples.

As a school located on Treaty 6 Territory, the school reaffirmed its commitment to learning through Indigenous perspectives while fostering understanding, respect and meaningful relationships within the school community.

School staff noted that reconciliation is an ongoing journey and emphasized the importance of education in building stronger connections and greater awareness of Indigenous cultures, knowledge and traditions.

The school also expressed gratitude to the many Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers, guest speakers and community members who have shared their stories, teachings and cultural experiences with students and staff over the years.

Photos shared by the school highlight a variety of meaningful learning opportunities, cultural presentations and community partnerships that have helped guide students' understanding of Indigenous history and culture.

Kerrobert Composite School said National Indigenous Peoples Day serves as an opportunity to celebrate the strength, resilience and lasting contributions of Indigenous peoples, while continuing the work of learning and reconciliation throughout the year.
