Kerrobert announces Exterior Business Improvement Incentive

Kerrobert businesses have the opportunity to spruce up their storefront and receive a monetary incentive. The Town of Kerrobert recently announced its Exterior Business Improvement Incentive, whereby Kerrobert businesses can receive up to $2,000 towards exterior improvements to their storefront property.

Tara Neumeier, CAO, reported nine businesses have currently been approved under the incentive. "Five have completed work, including some signage upgrades, paint, siding and windows that look great!" Tara noted. The improvements enhance the community's overall appeal and create a more welcoming environment for residents, visitors and potential new businesses.

Tara said Council created the incentive to thank existing businesses for choosing to operate in town, which is important for the sustainability of the community of Kerrobert.

The application process is simple and straightforward. After visible exterior improvements have been made, the business fills out an application and submits its receipts to the Town Office, along with a before-and-after picture of the business. Once approved, the business is eligible to receive up to $2,000.

Funds are disbursed on a first-come, first-served basis over a two-year period, or until funding runs out. Businesses having a storefront in Kerrobert are allowed one application and must complete improvements within six months of approval. Valid receipts must be submitted for reimbursement.

Eligible improvements include exterior painting or siding, new signage or sign refurbishing, window or door upgrades, lighting or awnings, planters, benches or other decorative additions. It is an extensive list of opportunities.

The Town of Kerrobert also offers a Tax Concession Policy for businesses that undertake substantial renovations to an existing business.

As a shared investment, Council hopes it strengthens the relationship of community pride and local support.
