Fatal highway crash near Harris claims two lives: Rosetown RCMP

ROSETOWN — Two people are dead following a serious two-vehicle collision on Highway 7 west of Harris on March 26, according to Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Rosetown RCMP said officers were called to the scene at approximately 1:15 p.m., along with local fire and EMS. Investigation determined a van and an SUV collided on the highway.

The driver and a passenger of the van, identified as a 33-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man from Saskatoon, were declared deceased at the scene. Their families have been notified. A second passenger in the van was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver and passenger of the SUV were also transported to hospital, with injuries described as minor and serious.

The investigation remains ongoing, with assistance from a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

The fatal crash capped a busy week for Rosetown RCMP between March 21 and 26.

Police responded to multiple calls in Rosetown and surrounding communities, including a report of uttering threats on March 22 that remains under investigation, and a fraud complaint on March 23 that is also ongoing.

Members assisted EMS on March 23 and conducted wellbeing checks in Rosetown and Kyle. Officers also responded to suspicious vehicle complaints in Rosetown and near Tessier, with one file deemed non-suspicious and the other vehicle not located.

On March 25, RCMP attended a traffic collision in Rosetown involving minor property damage. One driver was issued a ticket for driving without due care and attention.

The following day, officers received a report of erratic driving on Highway 7 near Rosetown but were unable to intercept the vehicle. Earlier that morning, police responded to a vehicle-versus-semi collision on Highway 4 south of Elrose, where injuries were reported.

Over the reporting period, RCMP issued 26 traffic-related charges, and responded to three 911 misdials and one false alarm.
