Curfew checks lead to breach charges in Unity and Wilkie
Unity RCMP charged a 48-year-old Unity man with failing to comply with a release order condition after members did a curfew check during the week of Oct. 13 to 19. Police responded to a semi rollover near Senlac. The driver had minor injuries and no charges were laid. Members are investigating a break and enter at a storage shed. CN Police reported two railway crossing malfunctions in Unity and one near Scott, all for information purposes. CN Police also reported suspicious individuals sitting on the train tracks in Unity, but they were gone when members arrived. Members patrolled after a report of suspicious vehicles in Senlac but could not find them. Police also responded to a Mental Health Act complaint and spoke with the subject. Unity members also handled three traffic complaints.
Wilkie RCMP charged a youth with failing to comply with a release order condition after a curfew check. Members are investigating a report of garbage in a residential yard. A complaint of a break and enter at a residence and a complaint of criminal harassment were both closed due to insufficient evidence. Members attended a residence to keep the peace while Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) boarded up the property. Police received four reports of suspicious individuals, three walking on the street and one riding a bike. Members patrolled each time but could not find the subjects. CN Police reported a railway crossing sign lying on the roadway, for information purposes. Members responded to a Mental Health Act complaint and spoke with the subject. Wilkie members also handled three traffic complaints and one false alarm.
Macklin RCMP received a complaint of an individual knocking on a residence door and trying to get inside, which was unfounded. Members helped the Macklin Fire Department close Highway 17 while crews put out a grass fire. A report of several vehicles with smashed windows in a parking lot turned out to be wind damage after video footage showed high winds caused it. Police contacted SaskPower about a low-hanging power line. Members did not attend a report of loose cows near Highway 31 west of Denzil because the animals were not a traffic hazard. Emergency Medical Services twice asked members to help with a patient and cancelled both requests.
