Council sets election pay rates, confirms sole sponsorship of regional park

KINDERSLEY — Kindersley town council spent much of its Feb. 23 regular meeting in closed session before returning to open council to address a limited number of business items.

Council was called to order at 4:55 p.m. with Mayor Ken Francis and councillors Rob Anderson, Randy Ervine, Shaun Henry, Kevin Martin and Deputy Mayor Warren Schafer present. No conflicts of interest were declared.

At 4:56 p.m., council moved in camera to discuss two long-range or strategic planning matters and six items listed as advice from officials. The meeting reconvened in open session at 7:06 p.m.

Among the decisions made in open session, council approved remuneration rates for election officials for the March 25, 2026 municipal election.

The approved rates are:

  • Returning Officer: $400 for the regular poll

  • Deputy Returning Officer: $350 for the regular poll and $150 for the advance poll

  • Poll/Election Clerk: $325 for the regular poll and $125 for the advance poll

  • Constable/Poll Assistant: $175 for the regular poll and $100 for the advance poll

Council also acknowledged a participation split and confirmed that the Town of Kindersley is now the sole sponsor of the Kindersley Regional Park Authority.

In financial matters, council approved accounts payable totalling $393,027.51 and payroll in the amount of $82,232.98.

Through the consent agenda, council accepted for information minutes from the Kindersley Museum (Jan. 13, 2026), the Kindersley Chamber board (Dec. 18, 2025), the NRC board (Feb. 17, 2026) and the January 2026 SaskWater operating report.

The meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.
