Brock & District Donor's Choice continues annual appeal

Brock & District Donor's Choice is a single yearly canvass for charitable donations covering the village of Brock and surrounding rural area.

Prior to the forming of Donor's Choice in 1977, each charity ran its own canvass in the area to raise funds. That meant residents could receive many requests for donations throughout the year. The philosophy behind Donor's Choice is that you are canvassed once a year, and you choose which charity or charities you wish to support. The committee then forwards your donation to the agencies you have chosen. Those agencies may be local, provincial, national or international. You receive one official receipt for tax purposes.

The door-to-door canvass in the village of Brock and surrounding rural area ceased during COVID, and forms are now sent by mail.

Some early committee members were Beth Cochrane, Eleanor Jickling, Isobel Kelly, Evelyn McNeil, Sharlotte Preston, Glen Strutt and Sue Wilkins. Many volunteers have helped with the canvassing over the years.

To donate this year, return your completed form to Sandra Elviss, Box 156, Brock, SK, S0L 0H0. An official receipt will be mailed to you. Listed organizations include the Arthritis Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Red Cross Society, Kindersley & District Food Bank, Mental Health Association, Ronald McDonald House, Saskatchewan Abilities Council, Sask. Alzheimer's & Related Diseases Assoc., and Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation. Donors are also free to give to any other registered charity of their choice.
