KINDERSLEY — Two large-breed dogs abandoned in Kindersley on New Year’s Eve are now in need of a permanent home, the town’s bylaw officer says.
Trina Koska said the bonded male and female, believed to be between three and five years old, were left behind in the community and are currently being cared for while awaiting adoption.
Trina Koska, the Town of Kindersley’s bylaw officer, is seeking a permanent home for a bonded male and female dog abandoned in the community on New Year’s Eve. The pair, believed to be between three and five years old, are not suited to outdoor living. SUBMITTED
Koska said the dogs would ideally be rehomed together, as they are closely bonded, although separating them may be considered if necessary.
The female weighs approximately 37 kilograms, while the male weighs about 43 kilograms. Both dogs have been spayed and neutered. Koska said the female has previously had puppies but appears to have been successfully weaned.
The dogs are not suited to outdoor living, particularly during Saskatchewan winters, as they are highly susceptible to cold temperatures, Koska noted.
Residents interested in adopting the pair must complete the Town of Kindersley’s Animal Adoption Application and submit it by email to bylaw@kindersley.ca. Applicants will be required to undergo a home inspection and meet the dogs before a final decision is made.
A donation to the Kindersley animal pound will also be required to help offset veterinary expenses.
The adoption application form is available on the Town of Kindersley’s website.
Koska is also asking anyone with information about the dogs’ previous owners to contact the bylaw office by email. All tips will be kept confidential.
