Alessia Cara and the Barenaked Ladies will help residents celebrate Canada Day.

Those acts will be among performers on the national broadcast from Ottawa on July 1, a federal statement said. Televised festivities begin at 11 a.m. CST over most CBC outlets.

“In addition to highlighting key moments in our history, (the morning) ceremony will bring together inspiring guests,” the statement said, indicating that details hadn’t been confirmed.

The evening broadcast, titled Celebrating our Canada!, features 18 performers, including host Isabelle Racicot, besides Cara, the Barenaked Ladies and Begonia in a segment from Winnipeg. Fireworks, set off from near the park, are to follow.

It “will bring together generations and regions from coast to coast to coast,” the statement said. “Led by some of the country’s most distinctive voices, the lineup will bring together iconic artists and talents who are shaping today’s Canada.”

People may again record short videos to wish Canada a happy birthday, some of which will appear during the evening broadcast. Someone who submits a video will win a Via Rail trip and a “VIP experience at Canada Day 2027.” See the O Canada! Station website for details on how to take part.

People may experience entertainment all day at LeBreton Flats Park in Ottawa or at four surrounding sites, including Parliament Hill, which gets the Snowbirds, the Changing of the Guard ceremony and the Royal Cana- dian Air Force Pipes and Drums.
